Apparent Authority The appearance that an individual has the authority or power to act as an organization’s agent, even though the organization has bestowed no such authority or power to that individual.
Appeal A party’s right, once an ET has made a decision, to appeal against it on a point of law to an employment appeal tribunal. An appeal can be made against a preliminary or a final decision or judgement.
Appellant Any party who appeals a decision. Either the employee or the employer may become an appellant if they appeal the outcome of an employment tribunal to the Employment Appeals Tribunal or EAT.
